ECO-CHURCH

We seek to live lightly on the earth, acting respectfully towards the fragile planet which is our home.

Our Climate Pledge

As a church we are committed to the care of God’s good creation.

This pledge was made by members of the church, and others, at our Climate Sunday service in May 2021:

Lord of life and giver of hope,

we pledge ourselves to care for creation,

to live sustainably,

to work to reduce our dependence on carbon-based fuels,

to explore the possibilities of renewable energy,

and to value the rich diversity of life.

May your wisdom guide us,

that life in all its forms may flourish,

and may be faithful in voicing creation’s praise.

Renewable energy project

We are committed to the target set by the church nationally, of becoming carbon-neutral by 2030. As members of the climate-focused group Towards Carbon Neutral Churches in Craven, we are participating in a government-funded study to assess the carbon footprint of our churches and their potential for generating renewable energy. For further details and a progress report, click here www.stmaryembsay.org.uk/churches-in-craven-carbon-neutral/.

HOLY TRINITY PRAYER

Heavenly Father,

open the doors of our hearts in awe and wonder to behold the beauty of your presence.

Lord Jesus,

illuminate our path that we might offer generous and loving space for the comfort and need of our neighbour.

Holy Spirit,

unfurl our minds in gratitude and humility that we might witness to the potential and fullness of the Kingdom.
