Ringing for VE Day

A band for VE Day

Along with most of the towers across England, a group of ten ringers gathered to celebrate in sound the 70th anniversary of VE Day.  One of our ringers, Digby Burton (4th from left) remembered that he spent most of the day... ringing!  A newly-recruited schoolboy band had learned to ring after ringing was allowed after the Battle of Alamein.  There seemed to be no shortage of bells that needed ringing!  Digby has been ringing ever since.

Our Mission Statement

We are a community of Christians within a broad Anglican tradition
who worship in the church at the top of the High Street.

Our mission is to share the Spirit of Christ as a relevant, living force for good
in a compassionate and respectful way
and to welcome both the local and the wider community into our Christian life.
