God of Glory, by the raising of your Son you have broken the chains of death and hell: fill your Church with faith and hope; for a new day has dawned and the way to life stands open in our Saviour Jesus Christ. Amen.

FOR  OUR  PRAYERS

In your prayers please pray:-
For the worldwide Anglican Communion and especially for the Diocese of  Jerusalem and its Anglican Bishop Suheil Dawani;
For the church in Sudan and especially for the continuing suffering of the people of Drafur;
For our diocese and especially for our Archdeacon Paul Slater;
For our Cluster and for our links with the Methodist Church: we pray especially for the Superintendent minister Graham Kidman as he recuperates;
For our locality and especially for schools as they begin the last week of term;
For those who are unwell or going through tough times.

CLUSTER  NEWS
Skipton & District Cancer Committee
will be holding its Spring Fayre on Saturday 5th April in Skipton Town Hall. Please support the event by donating items for the Skipton Churches gift stall eg. Bric-a-brac, jewellery, unwanted gifts, toiletries etc. Gifts may be handed to Sheila Bates or taken to the stall on the day. For items requiring collection please call Skipton 795316.  All proceeds to Cancer Research and local hospices.

The Rector’s mobile phone: Last week for reasons best known to themselves (or perhaps their computer) the mobile phone company which supports the Rector’s daily phone-in have cut him off (he had paid the bill, honestly!). Worse still, the old number has been cancelled irretrievably.  A new SIM card and number has arrived.
 BBC 1 Passion: Starting tonight BBC 1 is screening a major production of the events of the first Holy Week. It is being trailed as a fine series that will promote much discussion throughout our communities: do make sure you watch it (and perhaps record it too?) and take any opportunity it may offer to talk with your neighbours and friends about Our Lord’s death and resurrection. It’s being screened tonight, Monday, Friday and Easter Day at around 8pm each night.

Cluster Service and Brunch: Please note that the Sunday after Easter (a fifth Sunday) will see us all coming together for a Cluster Eucharist at Holy Trinity, starting at 9.45. After the service the idea is that we shall share a “brunch” together over coffee – rather like the early church shared a meal at its eucharists. So please bring along some suitable food to eat and share.
It’s the third Sunday of the month so the North Skipton Cluster monthly newssheet is out and available today. It’s still free so please help yourself to a copy.

Jonas week-end: We are to have a Cluster week-end away in September this year at the Jonas Centre in Wensleydale and it looks like being a wonderful time: please do think about coming and have a word with Nicky Wright (at Holy Trinity), Jane Markham (at St Augustine’s) or Linda Gartland (at St Mary’s) for more details.

Archdeacon on Good Friday: The traditional Three Hours service at Holy Trinity on Good Friday is being led this year by our archdeacon Paul Slater: do feel free to come along for any part of that service (it’s easiest if you come and leave on the hour or half-hour).

ST. MARY’S NEWS
St Mary’s Grand Spring Clean!
Thanks to all who helped with the Spring Clean yesterday – let’s hope our visitors today can tell the difference!
Easter Lilies: Please would you give Pam Meakin £3 if you would like a loved one remembered at the Parish Eucharist on Easter Day.
Dates in diaries now please for the following thrill packed events! Quiz evening at Holy Trinity Vestry Rooms, Friday 25th April at 7.15pm - tickets limited so contact Sue Davies ASAP. Also offers of help in the kitchen appreciated. Grand Porker Race Night at the Village Hall, Saturday 14th June at 7.00pm.
Tuesday in Holy Week: Please note that Holy Communion will be at 7.30pm, not the usual 10.30am.
On Sunday 30th March there will be a Cluster service at Holy Trinity – so if you are on the rota for doing anything at St Mary’s that day, please note that you are therefore excused from your duties!

HOLY TRINITY NEWS
Together at Christ Church:
  We are delighted once again to begin Holy Week with all our friends at Christ Church, and look forward to sharing key moments this week together. We will share together the service on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday nights and then on Saturday at 8.00pm the Vigil – a service which begins in darkness, and then, as the resurrection is proclaimed, light spreads from person to person until the whole church is flooded with light and jubilant sound - including the wonderful singing of the ancient song The Exsultet.
Maundy Thursday: Last year we experimented with washing of hands rather than feet at the Maundy Service Eucharist and have been encouraged to do that again this year: it is perhaps for us a more appropriate way of expressing and committing ourselves to the spirit of Christian service, one of another.
Lilies for Easter: If you would like to make a donation for a lily (perhaps in memory of someone special) please have a word with Rita Thackray.
Church Stewards: Easter is upon us. Please do make sure you check your pigeonholes as the new rotas need to be put in place quickly for the summer.

ST AUGUSTINE’S NEWS
Lil all spruced up:
Lil the donkey is all ready for her annual excursion up to the Dales Nursing Home and then down to St Augustine’s. Please come and join us for our Palm Sunday procession, starting from the Home at 4.30pm. Apparently Lil has just started getting used to the idea of someone riding her, so perhaps next year…
